The process for the pieces in the P.R.A.Y. collection center on layering one pigment with different mediums to see how it can be stretched to be delicate or bold, light or dark, subtle or expressive. Over the creation of the pieces, I've discovered a bit of yellow running through the whole collection tying in the importance of yielding to love and embracing what the results of that are.
Purple signifies Purpose
Green represents Reconciliation
Teal represents Abundance
Golden signifies Yielding
Pink represents Love
Abstract artist, Krystal Skinner (Empty Canvas Creations) presents her powerful collection where pigments are stretched across different media to reveal their varied qualities—a beautiful mirror of our own human journey of growth and transformation. The artwork itself is shaped by Wind, which carries and scatters pigments across the surface. Through saltation, the Wind lifts and bounces particles, and through deposition, it lays them down when its breath softens. Rain then awakens the water-based pigments, adding an organic unpredictability that completes the collaboration between nature and intention.
"Prayer has become a constant current within me, a living conversation about purpose, reconciliation, abundance, and the slow surrender to love. All of the artwork in my recent show, P.R.A.Y. Exhibition came out of changing the way that I look at prayer in my life. I began to center on finding purpose in each day, looking for reconciliation instead of conflict, abundance, and yielding to love.
While I know taking steps in faith is required, this artwork flows from something greater than myself. The result of a nearly sold out show feels like a gift from the universe, and I'm deeply grateful to be a vessel for this creative expression that seems to have touched so many hearts.
