Between Us: A Community Canvas of Connection 💙🎨
What happens when a community creates together? This mixed media exploration grew from our mutual aid mural work, where residents first laid down the foundational layer, and I responded with additional watercolor and mixed media elements. We mapped connection in the spaces between highways - in the neighborhoods and gathering places where people actually meet.
The public's initial creative contributions guided my layered response on watercolor paper, creating a dialogue between community vision and artistic interpretation. The flowing blue background emerged from this collaborative conversation, honoring both collective wisdom and individual expression.
Sherman Community Canvas celebrates the beautiful unpredictability of co-creation - for anyone who understands that the most meaningful art emerges from genuine collaboration.
